Exciting March Updates!

Category : Latest News

Hello Kavod Community!

Thank you again for your continued patience as we solidify all of our details moving forward.

We are excited to introduce you to our new director, Alexa Greenland.

Alexa’s career in education began as a classroom teacher, teaching English, Social Studies and Theater. She has taught in both public and private schools throughout California and Massachusetts. Mrs. Greenland has been an administrator in alternative education settings for eight years, including experience at a private school in Encinitas, and oversight of a charter school that spanned the state of California.

Mrs. Greenland earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and her Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Boston University.

Mrs. Greenland is a strong advocate of social responsibility and international cultural awareness. She authored a children’s book, The Cerulean Lion, that is emphasizes the value of kindness and appreciation of personal differences.

“KAVOD: Respect and Honor.  As my philosophy of education highlights the importance of respect, I am honored to be leading a program that emphasizes this value in our students.

Respect and Honor are core elements to successful citizenship. At Kavod we will develop these qualities in our students by nurturing their work ethic, enhancing their academic skills, cherishing their individuality, and promoting social responsibility.

Having previous experience establishing and stabilizing multiple schools, I recognize that it requires a strong team of dedicated individuals to ensure an organization’s success. I am looking forward to working with their entire Kavod family to fulfill our vision. As we engage upon this new venture, together, our school community will build a strong foundation for a program that will bring tremendous value to our society.”

Contact Mrs. Greenland by emailing director@kavodelementary.org.

As for facilities, the San Diego Unified School District has proposed Cubberley Elementary as our co-location site. Cubberley is located in Serra Mesa at 3201 Marathon Dr, San Diego, CA 92123. The SDUSD Board of Education is voting to approve the proposal next week. For student security, we respectfully request that no one try to go on campus until we organize official school tours. Now that we know the site we will begin distributing enrollment packets.

Our most recent Kavod Community Play Date was a huge success! About 25 future Kavod students met at California Pizza Kitchen in La Jolla for a kitchen tour and make-your-own pizza experience. CPK was an amazing host, donating all of their time and services! Pictures will be posted on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/KavodElementary.  Multiple info sessions and play dates are being scheduled for April and May, look for Evites in your inbox soon!

Happy Spring!
